Hey, everyone! National Convention is almost here! With this event coming up, some of OUT LOUD's team members share their excitement.
Hello, all! I’m so excited to write this just a couple short days before the National Convention begins! I have been to the National Convention once before, and know first hand how much you can learn! I'm looking forward to learning a lot through the apprentice program. I will get to learn how to serve with other people in new ways. I will also have the opportunity to teach some younger kids, and am really excited to learn from that experience of how to be a better leader and put it to use when our chapter starts!
Looking forward to seeing you at the National Convention! (If not this year, I hope to see you in the years to come!)
Jocelyn Yuen, Chapter Chair- OUT LOUD.
ICC’s National Convention is only a couple of days away, and there are many things I am looking forward to. As a student leader for the first time, I’m looking forward to attending the student Leader reception. There I will get to interact with other student leaders from around the United States. We will be able talk about what works well in our chapters, and get many different ideas to take back to are home chapters. This will be my first student leader reception; I can’t wait to see what Chapter OUT LOUD student leaders will bring back, and I can’t wait to see what God will do during this time of fellowship.

Oh my goodness! National Convention is finally here! Well, ok, it’s still about a week away, but that doesn’t make my excitement any less! Why am I so excited you ask? Mainly because this is my very first National Convention! I’ve heard the National Convention is quite the experience, you make a lot of new friends, gain a lot of great insight, and have an all around fabulous time! But what I’m looking forward to the most is definitely the ICCFS National Tournament. I am really excited to see what kind of impute I’m going to get from my judges! The focus of these tournaments is to take speeches prepared by the speaker, give them to community judges, and then get LOTS and LOTS of feedback. This is a really awesome experience because 1. You are able to practice your speeches a ton, 2. You receive a lot of fantastic feedback in a short amount of time and 3. You are then able to go back and bless your community with refined and polished pieces. Now, if you could not make it to the National Convention, but still want to have the experience of participating in a tournament, keep your eyes on the Institute for Cultural Communicators website!! I hope to see YOU at the National Convention in just a few days! Or at a fabulous Chapter Meeting in the near future!

Most of my extended family lives on the West Coast, two days driving time from my homestate of Colorado. So I'm sure you can imagine my excitement whenever I have the opportunity to trek out to see them and the joy we have together! For me, the upcoming National Convention is a similar experience - a reunion of an international family of believers in Christ who share a common goal. After attending the Inaugural National Convention last summer, I am especially excited to see the new ways that God will use Chapters all around the globe to come together in one community at this exclusive event. This year, I'm coming as an Incoming Intern with the Institute, and I can't wait to experience not only the opportunities for Students Leaders, ICCFS Competitors, and all of the fun parties and get-togethers, but also getting to learn more about leadership and service in the role of an intern. Though I won't be coming directly back to Chapter OUT LOUD, I know that my experiences at the National Convention will help me understand more about being a part of my community, both locally in the Monument area, as well as part of a community of communicators who desire God. I hope to see you at this year's National Convention, and have the biggest Family Reunion of the ICC year!

There are so many fabulous things about attending National Convention! I had a wonderful time last year. I learned so much about helping run a chapter and coaching students and parents. It was a full week of encouragement and knowledge. I came away a wiser and a more confident Assistant Chapter Sponsor.
This year, however, I am attending the Convention in a new role. YOUR Chapter Sponsor. I will be looking at the coach's track in a whole new way, and having a chance to dialogue with lots of other people around the world who also sponsor chapters. I can't wait to hear how they do things in their chapters and with their leadership and students...and parents! Idea sharing is one of the greatest benefits in going to National Convention. Gleaning creative ideas for blessing our communities and serving them is a highlight of the week! Even if you are unable to attend the National Convention, those of us who are attending will be bringing insight, fun, excitement and wisdom back to OUT LOUD!
Last year, God put such a message of mentoring in my heart at National Convention. I really want to see our students grow not just as speakers, but communicators in every way! That is why 1 Corinthians 13:1 is our chapter verse. Last year at National Convention there was a strong emphasis on raising up good, strong, servant leaders....not just good speakers. I really grasped what Paul was saying when he said it doesn't matter our gifts and our abilities...if we speak (or anything else) without it coming from love, it doesn't matter to God, or anyone else.
Our good communicators WILL be asked to lead. I can't wait to bring good stuff back from National Convention to encourage them in that path. I am excited to have our students in leadership and YSG model that for our younger students in BPS so that they have something to strive for. I desire our chapter to be an offering to God because of how we speak AND serve!
